Muzeum Archeologiczne w Biskupinie

BISKUPIN - najbardziej znany w Europie Środkowej rezerwat ar­cheologiczny. Badania wykopaliskowe w Biskupinie rozpoczęły się w 1934 r. Imponujący był rozmach prowadzonych prac, w których stosowano nowoczesne metody badań. W ich wyniku odkryte zostały kon­strukcje drewniane osiedla sprzed ponad 2700 lat (zachowane w znakomi­tym stanie). Przed wojną Biskupin był nazywany "Polskimi Pompejami".

Na terenie rezerwatu archeologicznego znajdują się:

• rekonstrukcja wioski neolitycznej sprzed 6000 lat,
• rekonstrukcja grodu łużyckiego sprzed ponad 2700 lat,
• rekonstrukcja wioski wczesnośredniowiecznej z IX-XII w.,
• pawilon muzealny: wystawa "Świt historii jad jeziorem Biskupińskim" poświęcona jest dziejom Biskupina i jego okolicy od czasów pojawienia się na tym te­renie człowieka, wystawa poświęcona życiu mieszkańców "łużyckiego" Biskupina, wystawa poświęcona wpływom celtyckim, rzymskim oraz wczesnego średniowiecza,
• kwatera poświęcona archeologii doświadczalnej - zrekonstruowane są tu: staj­nia, owczarnia, bróg, stodoła oraz piece - garncarski i chlebowy. W re­zerwacie uprawiane są poletka doświadczalne oraz hodowa­ne są owce wrzosówki, bydło czerwone, kozy oraz koniki polskie tzw. tarpany,
• Zagroda Wisza-scenografia do filmu "Stara baśń. Kiedy słońce było bogiem",
• zagroda pałucka z drugiej połowy XVIII w. ze studnią z żurawiem oraz czynną pasieką.

Każdego roku w trzecim tygodniu września odbywa się w Biskupinie wielki festyn archeologiczny, na którym specjaliści z całej Polski, a także z innych krajów, prezentują najróżniejsze przejawy życia ludzi w pradzie­jach. Atrakcyjna forma tych pokazów ściąga rzesze turystów.



BISKUPIN - the best known archaeological reserve in Central Europe. Excavations at Biskupin were begun in 1934. Their scale was im­pressive and modern research methods were used from the beginning. The excavations revealed a settlement built of wood over 2700 years ago. It had been preserved in excellent condition and before the Second World War was often referred to as the "Polish Pompeii".

In the archaeological reserve can find:

• the re­construction of the Neolithic village dating from 6000 years ago,
• the re­construction of the Lusatian culture fortified settlement from over 2700 years ago,
• the re­construction of the early medieval village from the 9th-12th century,
• the museum pavilion: the exhibition "The Dawn of History on Lake Biskupin" is devoted to the history of Biskupin and its surround­ings from the times when a human being appeared in the area, the exhibition devoted to the "Lusatian" Biskupin, the exhibition devoted to Celtic, Roman and early me­dieval influence,
• the area devoted to experimental archaeology. Here we can see a reconstructed stable, a sheep-fold, a barn and rick, as well as a kiln and a bread oven. For many years now small experimental fields have been cultivated and heath sheep, red cattle, goats and Polish ponies, so-called tarpans, have been bred here,
• Wisz’s Farmstead-the filmset of "An Ancient Tale-When the Sun was a God",
• the Pałuki farmyard from the 2nd half of the 18th century with a well and a crane and an active apiary.

Every year, in the third week of September, a great archaeological festival takes place in Biskupin, at which experts from all over Poland and from abroad demonstrate the various aspects of life in prehistoric times. The festival attracts crowds of tourists.

The excursion boat sails on the lake from May to September from 9a.m. to 5p.m. The cruise lasts about 30 minutes.
The tour of the reserve lasts from two to two and a half hours.
There is a tourist train which runs five times daily between Żnin and Gąsawa. It passes Wenecja, the ruins of the castle, the Narrow-Gauge Railway Museum and Biskupin, (NGRM tel. (52) 302 51 50).
